Jill and I have been friends for over 40 years! We've traveled together throughout the years and always stayed in-touch even if it's by text or email. This website is my version of a 'virtual' party for Jill for her 60th birthday and Jena has the perfect website . . . Memory Collect!

Where did you first meet Jill?
I met Jill and Karen Germanos when we were in our pledge T-shirts walking to Tri Delts on pledge night in 1982. We have been friends ever since, which is ironic for how spontaneous that moment was for us! Of course, I've called them by their last names ever since: Goebel and Germanos

What are your best memories of Jill?
Traveling with Jill to the New Orleans, Peru, Hamptons, New Zealand, Glen Lake and multiple ski trips; visiting her home in Lakeside MI and our Delta get-togethers throughout the years (and probably more places that I’ve forgotten)! She is one of only a few friends who have been to my hometown and my Mom taught her how to water ski at my family's lake cabin, which is a memory Jill always reminds me of when I ask 'where did you learn to water ski'?

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
Jill was the only person on our Peru Trip in 2005 who wanted to do the night crawler tour in the Amazon; the rest of us were (wisely) at the bar! Watching Jill bounce around on a towable tube behind a speed boat hanging on for dear life in Glen Lake. She is a willing participant for any fun party and likes to keep the party going past midnight! LOL!

Lucky for me we worked together when I first moved to Chicago. She was my first Chicago friend. I wouldn’t have made it through that first winter without her!

What are your best memories of Jill?
There’s too many to count! We’ve had so many amazing times at Cubs games, weekend festivals, Glamarama, trip to LA, great restaurants, Ravinia, watching March Madness, visiting my daughter and me in Oklahoma. The list goes on and on!!!

Where did you first meet Jill?
I met Jill through Marie Devlin…can’t remember the exact moment but had to be in some fun social bar situation!!!

What are your best memories of Jill?
Weekends in Michigan having great life discussions accompanied by lots of laughter.

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
Jill, Barbie, and I were ‘over served’ at the G&L fireman’s bar and ended up at my house eating popcorn ???? as if it was the last meal we’d ever eat.
One morning up in Michigan after a fun day at Lisa’s, Jill was hosting a group for brunch the next day and we didn’t get to her house until late the night before. She kept asking me if she could sleep late and I’m ‘bitching’ at her to get up and get moving. To her credit, it was a lovely brunch!!!

Happy 60th Birthday Jill!!

Where did you first meet Jill?
I am pretty sure that I met Jill through Marie Devlin originally. It may have been to play volleyball together. However we met it was the beginning of a lot of fun times!

What are your best memories of Jill?
Jill and I had a lot of fun in Chicago and traveling. I especially remember her kindness when we went to New Orleans for the first of what would be many trips to Jazz Fest. I had just lost my dog Cody and Jill and I had so much fun in NOLA, which was so appreciated during a sad time. We have had lots of laughs over the years, plenty of great adventures and silly times!

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
I think some of our fun experiences in NOLA - whether it was with cute boys we met or crazy antics by other jazz fest folks were belly laughing worthy. As I was looking for some photos I realize we also had some pretty good dance parties too!

Jill and I have been friends for over 35 years. She is one of the most authentic and real people I know. She is a fiercely loyal friend who is there for you through thick and thin. She is a selfless friend who truly cares for you and your family. Jill is always up for an adventure or for a conversation over a glass of wine.

Where did you first meet Jill?
I met Jill at U of I. We were in the same Tri-Delt pledge class and became fast friends.

What are your best memories of Jill?
I have so many memories of times both big and small spent with Jill. All of the fun times in our apartment at U of I. Jill's love of sleep is well known and in college her bedroom was always pitch black so that no daylight would get in and wake her. Jill loved to cook since college. Jill would be cooking a full meal - baked chicken, avocado (she was the first person I knew to eat avocados!), rice and vegetables - while the rest of us were eating mac and cheese and cookie dough! Our epic Rose Bowl trip which we refer to every time we are together! Our trip to Hawaii - me almost missing the flight; Jill waking at 3am to ride a bike down a volcano and seeing someone on the trip fall off the cliff; and hitting every beach on Oahu and Maui. Thirty plus years of Tri-Delt Christmas lunches which Jill always plans for us to meet at a hip trendy restaurant! Going to homecoming at U of I (Jill drove) and deciding that no one was in a condition to drive back so Jill, Pam, Gerry and I slept in the car in a parking garage! Spending hours 'doctoring' our IDs so that we could get into bars on St. Patrick's Day before we were 21. Time spent at her place in Michigan where we sit in our PJs talking for hours over wine, cocktails and iced tea! Shopping at Carson's, Michigan Avenue, Lincoln Park or Harbor Country in Michigan - Jill loves the thrill of finding a bargain! But the best memories have been the conversations covering anything and everything - careers, families, celebrity gossip, books, travels, hopes and dreams.

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
After we graduated college we decided we needed to become more cultured so we bought tickets to a Shakespeare play. We felt very sophisticated in our 3rd row seats. We were quite stunned when there were several nude scenes with the male actors!! We had no idea that this version had nudity. That was the last Shakespeare play we went to!!

Happy birthday!!! Wishing you an amazing birthday and year!????

Where did you first meet Jill?
I believe it was in the middle of the intersection of Diversey and Halsted when a spontaneous mid-traffic bongo drum performance broke out.

What are your best memories of Jill?
Fun birthday celebrations, winning every prize drawing during an all-day NCAA basketball watch-a-thon, beach volleyball, dressing as as The Incredibles for Halloween, countless vacations, spa days!

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
When she met Bavel? What? Pavel?,,huh?…, wait, what’s his name again? Bob?.. oh Pavel!…in New Orleans. Tapping boys butts at Durkins. Trying dirty martinis for the first time at Trump Tower…. “How have I not known about these?!” Finding Jill soundly sleeping with a ringing alarm clock on her chest.

Jill has been a dear friend of mine for over 35 years. We have laughed together, cried together, celebrated together and mourned together. Jill brings energy and authenticity to every situation and is truly a trusted and reliable friend. Happy 60th, Jill!

Where did you first meet Jill?
I first met Jill at U of I, specifically at Tri Delta. She was in a different pledge class, so we met through mutual friends in the sorority. She was the brainiac of the group - majoring in computer engineering, but still managing many memorable nights out and always finding time for friends.

What are your best memories of Jill?
We have so many! Living together at 2660 N Orchard in Lincoln Park was one of them. Our themed house parties always turned out even better than we hoped. Yakzies and The Burwood Tap. Our Pita Pockets orders on speed dial. Weekend adventures to Wisconsin, including an overnight in a Kenosha parking lot. Vacationing together in Ixtapa and a vicious bout with sun poisoning. My first trip overseas to London and Paris. Easter Sundays with her family in Lombard culminating with egg wars. Annual Christmas luncheons. Sharing our cancer journeys. Weekends in Michigan - both in Lakeside and Fennville. Visiting Savannah and checking out The Landings. And most recently a wonderful trip to Carmel. Jill is always up for adventure. I can't wait for more fun times ahead.

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
I think it has to be the night we spent in the Kenosha parking lot. We had gone to a friend's lakehouse for the weekend and had a great time boating, waterskiing, grilling out and cocktailing. For some reason we decided to drive back to Chicago that night. Jill was driving, and we were not in agreement as to whether we should be driving home. Finally, Jill decided to call a truce and pulled into the parking lot at the Kenosha mall. She put the car in park, and we slept there until sunrise. We weren't really speaking to each other at that point, so there was no discussion. We still laugh about that night and are thankful we survived.

???? Happiest of Birthdays, Jill! ????

Where did you first meet Jill?
Jill was an account executive at Visa and I was an assistant. This was many moons ago!

What are your best memories of Jill?
She is definitely the definition of a good and true friend. She will enjoy your corny jokes as well as sharing her own corny jokes. She is interested in current events (including celebrity gossip!) And anything that might push her a little out of her comfort zone. We shared a trip to Asia (Hong Kong and Thailand) and she became part of the family! My relatives still ask about her and when she will be back for another visit! She was a friend who showed up to support and care for me during the hardest times of my life and I will never forget her fierce loyalty and unconditional love.

Wishing you a birthday filled with all the love you deserve! May your next 60 be filled with more laughs, and fulfillment of more of what your heart desires! 60 is just a number because your heart will always be 25! Love you, my friend!

Jill and I have been friends for many, many years...I think almost 30 now. She is a wonderful friend, traveling partner, and fellow foodie. Jill is also very thoughtful...just a few examples - she volunteered her Michigan place so I could think and take a break. She also came to New York to help me unpack my new condo, hang pictures, and get me organized...that's a true friend!

Where did you first meet Jill?
I met Jill when Kari Kinder invited me to join a ski trip to Jackson Hole. I sat between Jill and Kari on our outbound flight and Jill immediately started giving me grief - informing me that she hated Notre Dame, taunting me as I tried to keep up with her speed-reading of the same Grisham novel, and generally dishing out a high level of light-hearted harassment. A strong start for our friendship...

What are your best memories of Jill?
There are seriously too many to count. Our trip to Africa is a standout memory, along with our US Open Tennis traditions - discovering Honey Deuces and watching tennis champs up close (Serena wanted to wish you a happy birthday too...see below). So many tasty restaurant adventures (especially Flex Mussels and Barbuto). Also, the winter Friendsgivings in Michigan are great memories of times with good friends.

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
Our Jambalaya contest is one - Jill swore her Jamabalaya was better than mine, and we decided to have a cook-off with friends. I think they tactfully called it a draw...let's just leave it at that.

Jill has one of the biggest hearts and is always asking about me and my family and she truly wants to know. She loves an adventure, and loves to learn something new. She jumps right in, no matter if it is golf, restaurants, or a new place to visit. She enjoys to shop, especially if there is a bargain! She is a dear friend and I am so glad we are doing more together as we get older. I am excited to celebrate into the next decade together!!

Where did you first meet Jill?
I met Jill at U of I and specifically at Tri Delts. We hit it off immediately and enjoyed many late night chats usually over a bowl of popcorn.

What are your best memories of Jill?
One of my favorite memories together is our trip to the Rose Bowl with Terese. We were in LA for a week and enjoyed everything we could possibly do in that time. Johnny Carson, Universal Studios; multiple restaurants, the parade; the actual game; minor fender bender, New Years Eve party, and more. We represented Illinois, wearing orange and blue at all of these outings and people would stop us to ask if that was the only school in the state because Illinois fans were everywhere. We just laughed the entire week together.

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
On that Rose Bowl trip we went to a New Years Eve Party and we were dancing on a table that was starting to buckle and started to lean over to fall down. We did not miss a beat, we kept dancing like nothing was falling and as a matter fact it added to the dance moves.
We also had another fun night dancing on elevated surfaces. Jill joined me for my sister in laws bachelorette bar crawl party and once again we found ourselves dancing on the bar to "Girls Just want to have Fun"

Anytime I am with Jill it is guaranteed there will be laughter and potentially silliness! She so curious that she can talk anyone and is up for trying anything. She loves to shop for a deal, put on a cute skirt, eat a great meal and take a refreshing nap. She is cheerful and positive with a huge empathetic heart. I love her dearly and so very grateful for our friendship.

Where did you first meet Jill?
I met Jill shortly after I moved to Chicago at a gals dinner at Lalos almost 25 years ago.

What are your best memories of Jill?
Jill & Barbie came on my first date with Clay, 'the Vasa!', coming to Everett's sports games, helping me plant flowers, Friendsgiving in Lakeside, street festivals, hilarity anytime she is with Marie, long walks & talks, making complicated bets at Derby, secret chair discounts, and hours of late night dancing! She came to my house and made dinner for my family.

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
She pulled the cord in the handicap bathroom for I don't know what reason, but hotel staff showed up immediately to see if we needed help. She slept through when the train almost left me in in the frozen tundra of Norway. She fell in love with a large metal breadbox at a flea market and hauled it home as her carryon from NYC.

Jill is hands-down one of the most photogenic people I know! Jill thinks deeply about things. She is always up for a challenge or experience. Our friendship has grown because she takes such interest in my family, which I so appreciate. I have learned a lot from Jill as she is an excellent conversationslist - her fund of knowledge, which spans a wide variety of topics, often amazes me. One thing I’d like to think Jill has learned from me is to wear more skirts as she’s got great legs! ????

Where did you first meet Jill?
Jan Barnett introduced us when the three of us shared a cab, headed to a Casino Swing party eons ago. Jill mentioned she was leaving the next day for Vegas to attend a 100 year-old Great Aunt’s birthday celebration. Just making conversation, I mentioned this coincidence, as I had just heard from my Mom, who was talking to her dear friend, Margie Gobel, about a 100 birthday party that she was attending in Vegas. And What Do You Know? Jill & I bonded over both knowing 1 in the same - Jill’s Aunt Marge is my Mom’s dear grade school friend, “Margie Goebel”!

Jill is a friend who flies under the radar. She'll be there when you need her but won't interfere with your life unless you invite her to do so. She's funny, private, curious, adventuresome. When she dresses up and puts make-up on she looks like a movie star!

Where did you first meet Jill?
I first met Jill at Tri-Delts at University of Illinois. We weren't in the same pledge class and actually became friends more so after college. Lots of adventures, trips and friendships.

What are your best memories of Jill?
Jill and I were both looking at the same house in Lakeside, MI. I let her put in the offer. A few years later, she wanted to sell it and buy the house next door. We rallied a landscaping team of friends and made it look great. At Audrey's wedding, she chowed down the lobster.

What are your funniest memories of Jill?
She did a goofy at MI ReTreat and wore funny grass skirt wear. Going on girls ski trip and getting the "Marlboro" man to give us a ride around the Red Lion bar to see if our friends would notice us with the hottie. Oh, and the teaser horse in Lexington absolutely loved Jill.
